Science Museum Educator

Are you looking for a part-time job that lets you lead a crowd to the edge of the known universe? Would you like to share your love of science with everyone from toddlers to senior citizens? Then we have the job for you!

If you are enthusiastic about science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics and have excellent communications skills, please consider joining our team and working with our visitors and program participants, at the Discovery Center and in our outreach programs throughout Northern and Central New England.

As a Science Museum Educator, you will assist in the development of, and lead, educational programs both in-house and off-site; help develop, construct, maintain, ship and install exhibits, serve as a docent and primary resource to members of the public on astronomy, aviation, Earth and space science, and provide security for the Discovery Center. Activities can range from presenting planetarium shows to engaging children in afterschool STEM enrichment activities to leading school field trip participants in science workshops to bringing air rocket or telescope programs to schools and libraries in NH, VT, ME and MA and more!

If you have a flexible schedule, you may be able to do all of the above. If your schedule is more limited, we may engage you for weekday school and afterschool activities, or for weekend/night public hours and events.

Ideal candidates will be quick learners and comfortable with technology of all kinds.  Minimum requirements: Demonstrated knowledge of and comfort with science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics and demonstrated capacity to work with the public, especially children; high school degree or equivalent.

Schedule typically ranges from 10 – 20 hours/week and may include days, nights, weekends and overnights.  Starting pay: $12/hour.
