Membership & Volunteer Coordinator
We are seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing, dedicated, detail-oriented person to join our team as Membership & Volunteer Coordinator. You will get to know our current volunteers and members, and play a key role in building our team and capacity to deliver on our mission by recruiting new members and volunteers, in the midst of our second decade as a nonprofit air and space museum inspired by NH Space Pioneers Christa McAuliffe and Alan Shepard.
Do you have a background in membership or volunteer coordination and database management? Do you have great communication skills? Do you enjoy challenges and working with the public? Then please apply to join a team dedicated to creating a great science museum experience every day!
This full-time position requires experience in working with computers and databases; a Bachelor's degree; or an Associates degree and one year's experience in volunteer or membership coordination/management; or a high school degree or equivalent and two years' experience in volunteer or membership coordination/management. The position involves weekday, night and weekend work. Pay is $15 per hour.
Volunteers are crucial to the success of the Discovery Center! Through the efforts of our extraordinary volunteers, the Discovery Center is able to provide quality programs and events that benefit our many visitors.
How Can You Help?
The volunteers of the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center give their time and talents to support the following activities:
Education Team School Group Educator: If you are interested in air and space and also like working with children, then this is the position for you! Run demonstration and discovery experiences to the many school groups who visit the center each day.
Exhibit Docent: On days when we are open to the public you can interact with visitors by leading demonstrations and explaining exhibits.
Visitor Services Team
Events Set-Up and Break-Down
Exhibit Maintenance and Repairs
Daytime Cleaning: Our exhibits are used daily and regular cleaning is imperative to keeping them looking and operating at their best!
Landscaping and Gardening: The Discovery Center has garden beds that always need attention. If you are interested in gardening and would like to help the Discovery Center look its best, then this is the perfect volunteer opportunity for you!
Perks to Being a Volunteer Volunteers who work more than 40 hours quarterly will be given an Individual Membership to the Discovery Center! Volunteers who work more than 60 hours quarterly will be given a 2-Person Membership to the Discovery Center! We can also sign off on any community service hours.
