Carving out time for Late Nights at the Discovery Center
A t-rex, a pack of werewolves, and an ewok are not the Discovery Center’s usual visitors, but those are just a few of the guests who showed up to the very first Late Night at the Discovery Center. On October 30, we hosted Spooky Space Night, which gave our visitors a chance to do some classic Discovery Center activities, like land the space shuttle and look through a telescope in the observatory, as well as to go on a scavenger hunt, carve a pumpkin, participate in a costume contest, and sip on a candy corn cocktail. Thanks to a grant from the New Hampshire Space Grant Consortium, we were able to hold this 21+ evening event for free.
Spooky Space Night was the first event in a series. We plan to continue offering our adult evening programs on a regular basis. Our next event will be on November 19 when we host a Paint and Sip night, where a professional artist will give step-by-step instructions on how to paint a picture while drinks are available for purchase. The Discovery Center will be open for exploration at no cost, and to participate in the guided painting, a $25 reservation is needed.
