On February 5th we celebrated the 50th anniversary of Apollo 14 and Alan Shepard landing on the Moon with a virtual driving tour of locations in the state connected to that story. In case you missed all the fun, here are the video links:

  1. After starting our morning at Alan’s old school, Pinkerton Academy

  2. We stopped at the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire

  3. Then saw Alan in our Science Store

  4. Before visiting Proctor Academy where he spent a summer

  5. And then the Redstone Rocket in Warren, NH

  6. After that we watched Alan walk on the Moon from our 1970s style living room “Apollo 14- Blast from the Past!”, our newest exhibit

  7. Then learned about more recent Moon research with UNH’s CRaTER Team

  8. Got a glimpse of Alan’s childhood home

  9. And returned to the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire

  10. Before our final check in with Alan’s hand-made boat

If you want to see any of these places yourself, or the other locations on our driving tour, the interactive map and a printable version can be found here along with links to other resources and information about the anniversary.
