Mars and Moon Day

There are some big things happening with Mars and the Moon this weekend and today especially so we are celebrating!

2:00 PM: Mars and Moon Themed Tonight's Sky
2:30 PM: Live Coverage of Lunar Eclipse begins

This weekend will be the perfect time to view Mars. It's extremely bright and close. Mars is in opposition today, meaning we will cross between the sun and Mars. Mars will rise at sunset and set and sunrise. It will then be at its closest to us on the 31st. You will be able to see it well for a couple weeks so no worries if the weather doesn't cooperate this weekend.

The longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century is also happening today! Although we in North America are not in the path for it, we will host a live screening of the event happening around the globe while we are open starting at 2:30 PM. This is when the the partial eclipse begins so feel free to check in throughout the day on its progress.
