Now searching for volunteer educators - help us spread the word!

Calling all volunteer recruiters! The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is in need of several new Volunteer Educators and Volunteer Exhibit Docents. Please share the descriptions below and reach out to us with any questions.

Volunteer Educators are essential to the success of the Discovery Center! Through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers, the Discovery Center is able to provide quality programs and demonstrations that benefit our many visitors. The Discovery Center is in need of Volunteer School Group Educators. If you have an interest in air, space or STEM and also like working with children, then this is the volunteer opportunity for you! You will be taught by our knowledgeable staff about our many exhibits and galleries, and then be able to educate and run demonstrations for the school groups that come to visit the Center from Wednesday-Friday.

The Discovery Center is also in need of Volunteer Exhibit Docents. On days when we are open to the public during the school year, (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), you can interact with and inform visitors from all over about our interesting exhibits and galleries.

There are perks to being a volunteer! Volunteers who work more than 40 hours quarterly will be given an Individual Membership to the Discovery Center. Volunteers who work more than 60 hours quarterly will be given a 2-Person Membership to the Discovery Center. We are very flexible and accommodating with volunteer’s busy schedules.

Please contact Sarah Nappo at for more information on volunteer opportunities and how you can get involved at the McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center.
