International Year of Astronomy
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center Celebrates the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). IYA2009 celebrates 400 years since Galileo first turned his telescope toward the heavens in 1609 and thus changed our view of the universe forever. As part of IYA2009, the Discovery Center premiered a new full-dome planetarium show, Two Small Pieces of Glass.
The IYA theme for November is "The Lives of Stars" and the featured object is the Crab Nebula.
